My current goals span several areas of my life: learning, business, running, travel, and building my community. Over the next five years, I want these goals to become increasingly connected rather than remaining separate projects. The details will inevitably change along the way. My five-year vision is therefore less about following a fixed schedule and more about the direction I want these different parts of my life to take.
Learning, Building, and Teaching
Learning has always been closely connected to my professional life. Mathematics, software development, and other areas I study often influence what I teach, while teaching and building new projects create new questions for me to explore. Over the next five years, I want to continue this cycle of learning, applying, teaching, and building. I plan to keep developing Lifetime Learner while exploring new products and opportunities where my background in mathematics, education, software development, and analytical problem-solving can come together. The specific projects may change, but I want continuous learning to remain at the foundation of whatever I build professionally.
Running and Exploring the World
My primary running objective is to work toward a Sub-3 Marathon. It is a demanding goal that may take several stages of training and development, and I want to give myself the time necessary to pursue it properly. Beyond Sub-3, I see running and travel becoming increasingly connected. Rather than continually chasing faster marathon times, I would like running to become another way of experiencing the world. One long-term direction is to pursue the Abbott World Marathon Majors: Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, and Cape Town. These races would give me an opportunity to combine marathon running with experiencing different cities and cultures around the world. Travel has already been an important part of my life, and I want future travel to increasingly connect with the other things that matter to me rather than existing as a completely separate goal.
Building a Life Around These Goals
The purpose of these goals is not simply to accumulate achievements. I want to build a life in which learning, meaningful work, running, exploration, and community can coexist. That means continuing to develop professionally while leaving room for physical goals, new experiences, and meaningful connections with other people. Building my community is an important part of that vision because the life surrounding these projects matters as much as the projects themselves. The challenge is not to maximize every area at the same time. Different priorities will naturally take the lead at different stages, while the others continue developing in the background.
Five Years From Now
Five years from now, I hope many of the projects I am pursuing today will have developed into something more integrated: a stronger business built around education and technology, continued intellectual growth, meaningful progress in running, further exploration of the world, and a stronger community around me. I do not expect the path to look exactly as I imagine it today. Some goals will change, new opportunities will appear, and priorities will shift. What I want to preserve is the overall direction: continuing to learn, build, challenge myself, explore, and create a life in which those pursuits strengthen rather than compete with one another.
