Exploring Through Food

I have generally been more of a café person than a restaurant person, but there have been periods when exploring restaurants became a memorable part of my experiences. This was especially true while living in Los Angeles, when I began visiting restaurants much more frequently and trying a variety of places and cuisines. Restaurant visits also became part of some of my travels, giving me another way to experience the cities I was exploring. Over time, I documented many of these visits, creating a collection of restaurant experiences from different places and different stages of my travels.

A Los Angeles Chapter

My time living in Los Angeles in 2022 became the most active period of my restaurant exploration. Over several months, I visited restaurants across Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, trying different cuisines and discovering places I might not otherwise have experienced. The restaurants ranged from sushi and Japanese food to Persian, Mediterranean, Italian, and other cuisines. Some were one-time discoveries, while I enjoyed others enough to return for another visit. What made this period memorable was not simply the number of restaurants I visited. These experiences became part of exploring Los Angeles itself, adding another dimension to my time living in the city.

Restaurants While Traveling

Restaurant visits also became a natural part of some of my travels. Rather than seeking out restaurants as a separate project, they were often simply part of experiencing a city while I was there. This was particularly noticeable during my trip to San Diego in 2022, when eating at different restaurants became part of my daily routine as I explored the city. From downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter to La Jolla, these meals became connected to the places I was visiting and the overall experience of the trip. Other restaurant experiences in cities such as San Francisco and Vancouver also became part of this collection, extending it beyond my time in Los Angeles.

Looking Back

Looking back, restaurant exploration represents a particular chapter of my life rather than a long-term focus. It became especially meaningful during my time in Los Angeles and naturally continued through some of my travels. The restaurant reports now preserve those experiences as part of a broader record of the places I explored, the foods I tried, and the different periods of my journey.
